Friday Night Funkin': CxB was a modded expansion of the popular rhythm game Friday Night Funkin'. This mod was supposed to mark the debut of the CxB brand and stood as the first major project spearheaded by what would become known as the CxB Crew. The mod was supposed to introduce a wealth of original content, with an emphasis on storytelling, character development, and high-quality production.
Development began in early February 2021. The project quickly gained attention for its ambitious goals, but the road to completion was far from easy. In the early stages of development, the creators faced significant controversies that almost derailed the project entirely. These incidents led to a temporary cancellation, casting doubt on whether the mod would ever see the light of day. Despite these setbacks, the remaining team members showed remarkable determination, choosing to persevere and continue the work that had been started, with the developers pushing forward even in the face of fluctuating team dynamics, additional controversies, and overall development hell. The mod was revived in March 2022.
Originally, "CxB" was a direct reference to the mod's original creators, Cora and Bravu, whose partnership was integral to the project's early conception. However, as the mod grew and evolved, the name "CxB" took on a life of its own. Today, it no longer has a specific meaning tied to individuals but has become an emblematic title that is now synonymous with the project, pretty much embodying the unique identity of the mod and its mythos. Any attempt to change it is considered out of the question by both the developers and the even any fans who have followed the mod's turbulent history.
CxB faced numerous challenges throughout the long span of its development, including multiple crew members coming and going, multiple creative struggles and expectations, controversies and deep rooted internal conflicts. Cora began to feel that Friday Night Funkin' was a complete waste of time and limited his creativity, as well as feeling the community was too toxic to even bother giving them anything.
Years would began to pass as the mod never truly made any significant progress, it was more or less in a perpetual state of development hell and literal limbo, with Cora citing frustations with team members that would begin to grow into a deep resentment towards them in particular. It almost felt inevitable after a while that the mod would never actually come out, and it's ambitions and Cora's visions were too abstract and grandiose to even truly work in an FNF mod, especially when it came to the music.
In May of 2026, Cora would be "cancelled" again after making a reckless and insenstive desicion to attempt to cancel his former friend for various accusations. It would backfire with a counterdoc which then exposed Cora for being extremely toxic, petty, manipulative, and an overall a bit of a desperate asshole for things he said years ago. Cora accepted it, and calmly left Twitter, deciding that both sides were in the wrong and to move on.
A few days later after the storm had mostly settled, Cora finally decided to do something he's honestly just wanted to do for years, which was to finally shelf and discontinue the CxB mod for good, having always wanted to pursue the project with the new vision that had long been past the point of being a Friday Night Funkin' mod, and to finally pursue CxB to be a media collective, music label and creative brand in general.
The CxB mod will never be released, with the music being repurposed to be original and not tied with FNF in any regard. There will never be anything Friday Night Funkin' related from CxB ever again, and the mod is considered to be indefinitely cancelled and shelved forever.

Trivia
- CxB started off as a mere reskin mod, when modding was at its earliest and the resources were not available at the time for a more simple experience, it even originally was published using the base game's engine.
- The idea to name the mod "CxB" in the first place came from one of Cora's friends back in high school, who pitched the name to him stating it would make the most sense. The name has stayed ever since.
- CxB has hours worth of unused content in the form of sketches, concepts and of course music, some which were considered to be lost media for years until one early build resurfaced on Internet Archive.
- Sakura was the first week back in 2021 to ever really "take off", garnering thousands of views the crew was not expecting, mostly due to the music that was created for her week. She was eventually removed from the mod for a period of time after a falling out with the songs creator, much to the dismay of fans who have since always pestered Cora on why the songs were taken down and why she was removed. Eventually, Sakura was re-added to the mod for the reboot after it was uncancelled, where she has received multiple design changes, despite the old songs no longer returning.
- CxB used to feature dozens of crossovers with other mods, which were all eventually cancelled and scrapped entirely due to the controversies. The reboot contains zero of any of the crossovers, which were simply reconstructed into more original ideas.
- The original version of "Disc Tray" remains as one of the most popular CxB songs to date, as it was leaked onto YouTube and spread rapidly, with Mania receiving countless fanart and love.
- Plush Sonic's Shop was originally an idea that came from TWaC, one of Cora's earlier projects.
- CxB possibly held the record for the longest time a Friday Night Funkin' mod has been spent in development, spanning 5 entire years before being indefinitely cancelled and shelved.
